Shamin joined Perigeum Capital in July 2016 as Managing Director and oversees the operations of the firm which comprise Listing & Capital Markets Solutions, M&A and Deals and Corporate Finance & Advisory. He started his career in the Big 4 audit firms and brings over 30 years of experience, spanning across various fields including auditing, taxation, management consultancy, global business and financial restructuring. He previously held finance directorship positions in the textile and beverage industries for almost 10 years prior to acting as Head of Listing at the SEM for 11 years.

As Head of Listing of the SEM, he was actively involved in the development of new and innovative products in the context of SEM’s strategic shift to move up the value chain of new listed & traded products. He was closely engaged in setting up the regulatory framework that governed the listing of a multitude of varied products on SEM’s markets (both the Official Market & the DEM). He was instrumental in creating the enabling space for international ventures to list and raise capital on the Exchange and was also directly involved in the listing of innovative products on SEM : ETFs, Structured Products, Specialist Debt Securities & Eurobonds and Global Business Companies.

Shamin’s interaction with listed companies over those years involved, inter-alia, reviewing and approving major restructurings in the largest conglomerates operating in the sugar, hospitality, textile and manufacturing sectors in Mauritius. He was also called upon to review & authorise complex transactions across the local business landscape as well as in cross-border initiatives which included valuations, business plans, related-party transactions, mergers & acquisitions and other substantial transactions.

Shamin was a past member of the Audit Committee of CIMA Central, Eastern, Western and Southern Africa as well as a past board member of the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA). He is currently a Board member of Mauritius Finance and a member of the Sub-Committee of Capital Markets – Financial Services Commission.

He is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA – UK) and of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA ‐ UK). He also holds a MSc in Information Technology (Business Information Systems) from Keele University, UK and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Mauritius.
